Multi - transition VLBA observations of circumstellar SiO

چکیده

On this paper, we present simultaneous VLBA observations of the J=1–0 and J=2–1 rotational lines in the v=1 and v=2 vibra-tionally excited states of SiO (at λ ∼ 7 and 3 mm). We have mapped these four maser lines in the circumstellar envelopes of three AGB stars: IRC +10011, χ Cyg and TX Cam. We study the relative spatial distribution between these maser lines. In particular, for the two v=1 transitions , we found that the J=1–0 and J=2–1 maser spot distributions are unalike, challenging all the current theoretical pumping mechanisms for SiO masers (which predict quite similar distribution for maser lines in the same vibrational excited state).

Multi-wavelength interferometry of evolved stars using VLTI and VLBA

We report on our project of coordinated VLTI/VLBA observations of the atmospheres and circumstellar environments of evolved stars. We illustrate in general the potential of interferometric measurements to study stellar atmospheres and envelopes, and demonstrate in particular the advantages of a coordinated multiwavelength approach including near/mid-infrared as well as radio interferometry. We ...

VLBI Observations of SiO Masers around AH Scorpii

We report the first Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations of 43 GHz v=1, J=1–0 SiO masers in the circumstellar envelope of the M-type semi-regular supergiant variable star AH Sco at 2 epochs separated by 12 days in March 2004. These high-resolution VLBA images reveal that the distribution of SiO masers is roughly on a persistent elliptical ring with the lengths of the major and minor axe...

A Measurement of Proper Motions of SiO Maser Sources in the Galactic Center with the VLBA

We report on the high-precision astrometric observations of maser sources around the Galactic Center in the SiO J=1–0 v=1 and 2 lines with the VLBA during 2001 – 2004. With phase-referencing interferometry referred to the radio continuum source Sgr A*, accurate positions of masers were obtained for three detected objects: IRS 10 EE (7 epochs), IRS 15NE (2 epochs), and SiO 6 (only 1 epoch). Beca...

SiO in C-rich circumstellar envelopes of AGB stars: effects of non-LTE chemistry and grain adsorption

New SiO multi-transition millimetre line observations of a sample of carbon stars, including J = 8→7 observations with the APEX telescope, are used to probe the role of non-equilibrium chemistry and the influence of grains in circumstellar envelopes of carbon stars. A detailed radiative transfer modelling, including the effect of dust emission in the excitation analysis, of the observed SiO lin...

A Movie of a Star: Multi-epoch Vlba Imaging of the Sio Masers towards the Mira Variable Tx Cam

We describe an observing campaign using the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) to monitor the time-evolution of the v = 1, J = 1−0 SiO maser emission towards the Mira variable TX Cam. The data reported here cover the period 1997 May 24 to 1999 February 19, during which the SiO maser emission was im-aged at approximately biweekly intervals. The result is an animated movie at an angular resolution o...
